Running for Charity

Tara and co have put together a team of budding runners to compete in the annual 2 castles 10k run in June.

Experience within the team is varied as are the goals of each runner but the common goal is to raise as much money as possible for charity.

Tara and Co have chosen a few very worthy charities that they will be running for, Great Ormand Street Hospital, the Railway Children, Trust Children and the Hindu Mission Hospital. We are looking for sponsorship for these charities and any amount no matter how small will help each great cause.

We successfully raised over £2500 in 2008 and we hope to cross that figure this year with your generous support.

Railway Children

The generous support of people like you has enabled Railway Children to help thousands of abandoned children around the world. There is still so much that needs to be done.

You Can Make A Difference

£2 feeds a child in India for a week
£5 helps two children in the UK make a call to a free telephone helpline
£15 feeds a child in Siberia for one month
£30 funds a child at a platform school in India
£100 supports a street child through primary school (books, uniform, essential medicines and midday meal)

Great Ormond Street

Great Ormand Street Hospital is a world-class children's hospital, with the broadest range of paediatric specialists under one roof anywhere in the UK. We welcome around 150,000 patient visits each year, treating patients with the most complex, life threatening or life-limiting conditions. We are totally committed to finding treatments and cures for some of the rarest and most difficult illnesses.

Gosh aim to raise £50 million each year to fund;

  • the ongoing rebuilding and refurbishment of the hospital and the Institute of Child Health
  • purchasing the most up-to-date equipment
  • research and development into new and better treatments
  • accommodation and other support services for families and staff

Trust Children.org

The vision of trust children is to break ' poverty-manual labour' cycle of the economically under-priviledged. To bring about ethical human beings of grandeue and strength. Intelligence tempered by humility and strength tempered by love.

This trust is being run by a group of young adults who CARE. No part of any donation received is used for administration costs. All administrative expenses are borne by committe members.

Hindu Mission Hospital

This is a non profit charitable organisation that provides free or affordable quality medicare to the poor and needy, with focus on those from rural areas.

The hospital on occassion charge patients requiring dialysis a nominal and subsidized rate of INR200 ( close to £3 ) and cataract surgeries at INR 2000 (£30)
